FAQ

Why was Cully Online created?

Cully Online was created to be a community web site. To allow people within Cullompton to find out local information, and for Tourists to learn about history and where things are now.

Our aim is to give you the user more control by contributing to the web site.

This includes discussions, rants and raves and current hot topics. Also for professional people such as Dr's, Police to highlight important information. (This would be of real use to people we believe)

Cully Online is a independent Online guide to Cullompton created by Peter Mayhew, who wanted to give something creative and useful for the Community of Cullompton.

How is Cully Online Funded?

Cully Online has no funding. We aim to provide a high quality web site for you the user, and would be grateful if you could assist us by clicking one of the advertisements from Google on the Right Hand Side of this Page. Thank you for your Support.

If you wish to make a donation to us, then please contact us, and we can provide further details on how this can be done.

What about the Official Cullompton.org web site?

Cully Online will allow people to share information. We felt Cully Online filled in a few missing gaps.

We aim to over time provide new and exciting features.

Since the Cully Cobbler is no longer in circulation, Cully Online can start to role out services to replace the local magazine.

When was Cully Online born?

The first attempt at Cully Online was on 20/1/02. Since then its been stripped apart and rebuilt several times.

What is the structure behind Cully Online?

We used to be Unix based Hosting, but on the 4/2/04 we moved to Microsoft Hosting.

Our coding consists of HTML, ASP, ADO, SQL, CSS, JavaScript and VB script. This allowed us to become more creative and allow you the web browser to have a more interactive web site. Now you will have to chance to submit your own details, such as business details etc etc.

Who created Cully Online?

The design and concept behind Cully Online was by Peter Mayhew. A local resident of Cullompton since 1985.

Peter also believes its important for the history of Cullompton to be remembered.

Why has the number of Guests Online / Members Online just dropped to 0?

There is a known fault on Cully Online where the server is either reset, or a new global.asa file is uploaded.

This causes the server to run the application online subroutine.

Because we are using shared hosting currently we do not have any control over this. Should we one day be able to afford a dedicated server we will be able to prevent this from occurring.
